70% of consumers will leave a review for a business when asked

Want to get inside the minds of potential customers for your local business? Columnist Sherry Bonelli shares insights from BrightLocal's annual Local Consumer Review Survey.
A business’s online reputation is more important than ever. In fact, a company’s online reputation is fast becoming one of their most valuable assets — if managed properly.

Why? In a world where online reviews show up virtually every time a person searches for a local business, potential customers can’t help but be confronted with reviews about a local business’s products or services — the good, the bad and (sometimes) the downright ugly. Read more!

Why online video is the future of content marketing!

25 August 2016

Video is taking content marketing by storm, but you'll have to do more than just make one to realize its full potential.

If it were five years in the future, would you be reading this article or would you be watching it? As online video continues its inimitable rise, it's an interesting question to ponder.

By 2017, video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic, according to Cisco. Video-on-demand traffic alone will have almost trebled. Leafing through a swathe of statistics on the subject, I'm hard pressed to find any indicator that doesn't suggest rapid growth.

When it comes to potential reach, video is peerless. YouTube receives more than one billion unique visitors every month – that's more than any other channel, apart from Facebook. One in three Britons view at least one online video a week – that's a weekly audience of more than 20 million people in the UK alone. Video can give you access to all this. Video done well can give you a slice of it. What other form of content can do the same?

But is video really possible for small businesses? Absolutely. Production costs have fallen significantly in recent years and you no longer need to be a technical whiz to work out how to use it. Apps such as Twitter's Vine, with its six-second maximum clip length, have dramatically increased the opportunity for businesses on a limited budget to get stuck in.

Finally, be creative, not only with the videos themselves but in the campaign strategy you build around them. Get that bit right and video won't just be the future of content marketing, it'll be the future of content marketing for you.

Why do you need to build your brand in SEO?

06 April 2016

Here at Visuell Kommunikation we believe building your brand is a vital part of an SEO Strategy. If your brand has no reputation and is not maintained at a high standard this will give a bad impression to potential customers. Your visibility will be directly effected as it will also make it harder if you are not at a position where they can see you.

Search engines are becoming more and more crowded and the domination of well-known brands is an epidemic that is hard to see through. In this article we will discuss how brand domination can be daunting but also offer a solution to this so you can receive the organic traffic you deserve. It has been proven that brand recognition trust and the reputation can overrule the SEO authority of a site. Because of this, SEO in a traditional sense is shifting in regards to the priority of the company. It depends on the size of the site and the reputation it already has, but for smaller companies this makes complete sense.

Although the concept of building a company’s brand and reputation may seem difficult or even impossible, we can assure you it is not. Make no mistake though, there is no quick fix to branding as it can be a longer process for some than others. However, there are certain things that you must take into consideration. Here are a few of them:

The service or product you are providing must be great; with real potential. If not, the marketing and content will go to waste and will not attribute to the brand in any way. The sites overall upkeep must be excellent. This includes original, relevant content and responsive, helpful customer service. Focus on building a relationship with your clients. In order to do this you need to be transparent, real and engaging. This applies to your online and offline demeanour, as consistency is key.

Research keywords to focus your brand identity; as many companies attempt to cater to everyone in an attempt to win everyone over. This is a problem, as brand identity is all about creating a clear niche so your customers feel a connection to the brand and know exactly what it is about.

Visual recognition is very important as it makes a huge difference. If visitors/customers recognise your design, logo, and style then you’ve successfully created a strong brand. This is why certain online bloggers are getting a lot of recognition and even receiving fame. They have a signature approach to what they do and a sense of community is created. If this can be replicated, but in regards to your company, then you have definitely made it.

In conclusion, the integration of great SEO practice and clear professional branding into your website or business is a powerful tool. Ultimately, branding is becoming crucially important in the SEO stratosphere and requires just as much of your time.

Boosting your companies brand needs to be a priority if it isn’t already. Many people get hooked on quick fixes that they think will generate success, but this is simply unrealistic as it will not happen overnight. There needs to be strategy behind it that can connect and an abundance of creativity to give visitors something worth talking about.

5 reasons for making your website mobile optimized with responsive design

09 March 2016

Developing a new website for a new company can be a pretty unnerving task, especially as the standards of what a site should be have risen to a new high. If you are planning to develop a new website, it is important you consider making your website mobile optimized using responsive design.

Recently there has been reports that more users are accessing the internet on their mobile than their computer. It would very beneficial to allow mobile users access to your site so they can navigate with ease and without any difficulties. Google suggests that all computer sites should be optimized for mobile use. It is recommended that websites are designed for ease of use, especially on mobile.

1. Mobile Users are Different to PC Users Mobile users have different objectives than desktop users and typically this means they want information in quick, easily digestible bites. Customers report that their mobile purchases are often impulse buys and some statistics show that mobile users spend more money per purchase than customers do on desktop websites.

2. Mobile Gets Traffic With one-quarter of global web searches conducted on a mobile device by over a billion users worldwide, mobile websites are just as important, if not more so, than desktop versions. Multiple sources report that smart phone users are engaging with mobile websites and apps while watching TV, commuting to work, and simultaneously while using a computer. As Google made clear- the future of search is mobile and websites that aren’t usable on handheld devices will see their search rank suffer for it.

3. Better Brand Engagement People like your brand more when you offer a satisfying mobile experience and they’re more likely to return to your website later on a desktop. When your mobile experience is optimized for functionality and consistency it fosters trust and affinity with users. On the other hand if your mobile website is difficult to navigate customers are more likely to go to the competition than to visit you on a desktop computer. If you can’t provide what they need when they need it you will have lost the opportunity for the sale and risk losing a customer permanently to a competitor.

4. Increased Conversions Desktop websites in mobile browsers are ineffective at converting visitors into buyers. Calls-to-action are often obscured, links are difficult to click and contact pages are buried in awkward menus. Mobile shoppers have little patience for an unwieldy website and one-third of them will leave a transaction if the site isn’t optimized for mobile.

5. Reduce Your Bounce Rate Content that looks great on a desktop might be unreadable on a mobile device. Visitors won’t stay on your site if they have to pinch and zoom or squint at illegible type, or worse yet if it runs flash or anything that requires add-ons to display in a browser. If your website isn’t optimized professionally for mobile your bounce rate on mobile devices is going to be extremely high. By providing mobile visitors with an appropriate and intuitive user experience you will obviously engage visitors longer and drive more of them to purchase or enquire.

This is responsive design.
